Military personnel
Uncle Sam/ the government frequently has people go domestically and internationally. Many times personnel have to ship their cars to vehicle processing stations and sometimes situations require shippers to handle all their own arrangements.
Snow birds
Many people seasonally go to warmer climates when winter comes to the northeast and north central states. Just like birds flying south for the winter, these shippers get referred to as “snowbirds” whose vehicle travel in the fall and winter into Florida, and then in the spring need to be shipped northward. Cars are shipped to prevent too many miles being used, because the cars are suitable as a daily driver, but for long distances, or because the owners no longer desire to drive long distances themselves.
Students
Parents frequently want to protect their children traveling to and from college locations in their vehicles. When people are moving or relocation for short periods of time or permanent relocations there are reasons to have outside service handle the move of their car instead of long distance driving.

Some of the largest units we moved were Armored Personnel Carriers, modular houses on wheels, containers, military lading crafts-ducks. Unusual item shipped was set of coffins to Japan (empty of course)
